KOHALA'S COMMUNITY HARVEST DAY

Community Harvest Hawai'i: Hō‘umeke a Hānai -- everyone growing or bearing fruits, presenting it in a bowl, and sharing, while caring for each other.

HARVEST your extra fruits and vegetables (citrus, avocados, guava, breadfruit, lilikoi, banana- anything!). If you need us to harvest for you, we can do that too--call Carol at 889-5391.

 BRING your bounty. Drop off on Friday, August 12th , 3 – 7 pm or Saturday, August 13th, 9 – 10 am.

 HAVE FUN while preparing and processing the food into a community feast and into products to share. LEARN NEW food preparation and preservation skills each month. June features DEBBIE CHOO of Kohala's Finest, which produces jams, jellies, lilikoi butters and salad dressings out of locally grown fruit. Lots of MUSIC and LAUGHTER.

EAT a community prepared meal and CONNECT with your community--old timers, newcomers, all ethnicities, all ages.

SHARE food with others--your fresh, local food donations will be distributed back into the community through the Food Basket and Kohala Senior Nutrition Program.

(Kohala Community Harvest Day is a regular monthly event on the second Saturday of each month, beginning in August).

Community Harvest Hawai'i is helping to build a local, sustainable food system in North Kohala and is a project of the North Kohala Community Resource Center and a partnership between the North Kohala Eat Locally Grown Campaign, Ka Hana No‘eau and the Ho‘ea Agricultural Park. The project is funded through the Island Innovation Fund.
