Saturday, February 04, 2012, 09:00am - 12:00pm

The new Tropical Fruit and Edibles Nursery in Captain Cook is offering a hands-on opportunity to learn
basic pruning for ornamental shrubs. The workshop will be taught by Diana Duff and Lynne Sharman. The
nursery is located on the mauka side of Mamalahoa Highway in Captain Cook, just south of mile marker
108. A white mailbox at the bottom of the drive to the nursery is numbered 83-5696.

Beginning at 9 am a short presentation on the principles of pruning will be followed by fieldwork on several
shrubs on the property. Cuttings from all of the pruned shrubs will be available for participants to take
home and plant. A demonstration and instructions for propagating from the cuttings will also be included.
The workshop will end by noon.

The fee for the workshop is $30 and includes all handouts, instructions and cuttings. Participants should
wear closed toed shoes and work clothes including hats and gloves. The site is sunny, rocky and dry. Bring
