About me
Science teacher at Kea'au High School, advisor of the KHS Kitchen-Garden Club. Club goals are encouraging healthy eating and educating about the connections between food, personal health and the 'aina. In 2008-2009 recieved a grant from the Power up with Produce Program that provided $20,000 worth of free produce as student snacks. Program was very popular and the club is looking for additional funding sources for healthy snacks. Working to establish a school garden that can be used by students not enrolled in Ag. classes. In the late 90's I did a lot of outreach work in school gardens in Berkeley/ Oakland with the UC Botanical Garden, but am having difficulty getting a garden going in a large public school as a classroom teacher. Not giving up though! I would love advice/ kokua with this.
